Gardens There are many gardens within easy reach such as Holker Hall, Holehird, Graythwaite, Levens Hall with the famous topiary also Brantwood and Anne's favourite Muncaster Castle here you can also visit the famous Ravenglass Railway Authors Arthur Ransome famous for writing "Swallows and Amazons" lived in Rusland and is buried in Rusland Church Beatrix Potter who wrote the beautifully illustrated children’s books and owned many farms locally including her famous Hill Top home was born and raised nearby. Her original paintings can be found in a gallery in the Lakeland village of Hawkshead William Wordsworth the famous poet lived and wrote in Grasmere and went to school at Hawkshead Grammar School Eat & Drink
