A Traditional Cumbrian Welcome at our Farmhouse Accommodation
Crosslands Farm is a working farm built in 1645, with an extension built on in the early 1700s. The dining room is the oldest part of the house which has been converted from an old dairy where the original beams, cooling slabs and ham hooks can still be seen. There are local slate flag floors throughout the B&B and the guest lounge has beams and an ingle nook fire place.
Anne's family has lived in the valley for generationsk, and her Grandfather was a sheperd for Beatrix Potter when she was a young woman at Troutbeck Park Farm near Windermere before settling in Rusland. David is from the old county of Westmorland and together they have extensive knowledge of the area.
David enjoys conservation and has developed a permissive walk and planted many native trees which you can enjoy by following the permissive footpath. There is a wide range of wildlife on the farm such as deer, birds, newly introduced red kites, a barn owl is often seen too.
The bedrooms at Crosslands are comfortably furnished and decorated. All have tea & coffee facilities and a television.
Valley View is a light and airey double bedroom with window seat looking over the valley. There is a newly refurbished private bathroom and shower with underfloor heating.
Rusland View is a double room with en-suite shower room and a window seat where you can enjoy a lovely view across the fields.
Fell View is a double room with a very spacious en-suite bathroom with shower. The window has a view across the fields and the woods to the fell where High Dam nestles.
We also have a pretty twin room with a window seat.
Anne is a trained cook and provides a hearty breakfast which sets you up for the days activities. Made from locally sourced products such as cumberland sausage, eggs and honey also homemade preserves. Homemade evening meals can be served on request, desserts being Anne's speciality.
