rosslands is a peaceful place to stay for your lakeland break but yet it is only short distance from some of lakeland's best attractions.

Please take a look below at some of the places to see while staying with us. And remember, this is not a complete list. There are many more things to see and places to go when staying at Crosslands Farm. Dave and Anne provide much more information for you to browse through and they are willing to talk to you about anything you need to know...

rizedale forest:-
Great for walks and mountain biking, there is sculpture to see along the many walks. Also the exhilarating 'Go Ape', and from Dave and Anne's personal experience of it it is well worth a go.

rthur Ransome:-
Is the author of many books but most famous is Swallows and Amazons. He lived in the valley of Rusland and is buried in the local church. Part of the film Swallows and Amazon was filmed at Rusland.
eatrix Potter:-
Also a famous childrens' author was based at nearby Sawrey. Here you can visit her home and see her lovely drawings.
tately Homes:-
There are many homes in the area which are open to the public. Holker Hall with it's famous cars, beautiful grounds and famous deer. Muncaster Castle has wonderful and interesting interior along with lovely gardens and owls. Dalemain at Ullswater is a Georgian house with a mediaeval courtyard. Levens Hall is Elizabethan with halls worth visiting also the famous toipery.
rt Galleries:-
Black Hall at Windermere, Heaton Cooper in Grasmere this village is worth a visit, Wolf House Gallery at Silverdale in the south of the county by the estuary, Beckstones near Penrith. All these galleries are different but enjoyable to go to.
hopping:-
Keswick is an interesting place to shop at, it also has a leisure complex and museums. Barrow is a good place for shopping with other attractions such as the famous Furness Abbey, Dock Museum and a bird reserve on Walney Island. Kendal, famous for it's shoes, is good for shopping and not forgetting Carlisle with it's popular Lanes centre, Hadrian's wall, Cathedral and Tullie house.

Are in abundance in the area.
ailways:-
The Ravenglass miniature railway is great to visit for young and old, affectionately called "The Ratty" by locals. The Haverthwaite steam railway links up with the steam boats on Windermere lake which is a great day out.
alking and Mountain Biking:-
There are excellent walks and bike rides for all abilities in the area, with the fells and mountains so close. Crosslands has plenty of space for parking the car all day and walking from here. There is also a secure place for your bikes. With plenty of hot water and a log fire to sit by what a great way to finish your day.
